Born on 21 July 1967 in Vernon (Eure department), Damien Cazé is a graduate of IEP Paris and a civil engineer from ParisTech. He also holds a degree from ESSEC Business School and is a former student of ENA.
In 1996, he joined the French Court of Auditors, where he was appointed Senior Auditor in 1999 and later became Master Auditor in 2012. In 2002, he served as Technical Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, and the following year, he became Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister. In 2005, he joined the Ministry of Agriculture as Director of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture. He then served as Director of Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Ecology from 2008 to 2010.
In 2010, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Universcience. In 2015, he returned to the French Court of Auditors, where he was named General Rapporteur for an investigation into environmental taxation.
In May 2017, he was appointed Head of the Department overseeing ecology, transport, energy, housing, and agriculture issues at the French Prime Minister’s Office.
On 16 September 2020, Damien Cazé was appointed Director General of Civil Aviation by decree.
